Is it a good glovebox or roadside light?

Built for that job: the flat body does not roll around a glovebox, the magnetic tail parks it on a steel panel so both hands stay free, and the side strip gives area light or a colored signal at the roadside. Keep it charged; a light that lives in a car is only useful if it turns on.

Will the magnetic tail hold it on a car body?

It parks on bare or painted steel, not on aluminium or plastic panels. Check it grips before you let go, and wipe the tail so grit does not mark the paint.

What is the side light strip for?

Area light and signalling. Soft warm-white for a tent, a bench or the inside of a car, and colored modes for marking your position or signalling. Not a substitute for the main beam.
